The Shropshire Open is a established and well organised 6 weapon event.

Sunday 11th July 2010 saw the running of the 124th Much Wenlock Olympian. Fencing has been a part of the games for a long time and lots of fun was had by adults and the under 13 teams.

During the course of the games, Wenlock the Olympic 2012 mascot made an appearance.

On Saturday 3rd July 2010, Peter James represented Shrewsbury Fencing Club in The 6th Bill Hoskyns Open. Whilst trying very hard he could not gain more than 1 victory which meant that after the 2nd round of poules he was eliminated.
On Sunday 4th July 2010 the Bill Hoskyns team event took place and a team calling themselves "Shropshire" made up of Timothy Pearce, Alec Rapson and Peter James(Captain) fought bravely in the poule rounds but lost against all of the teams. This meant in the DE we had to fight "Warwick School who were the number 1 seeds. Luck was on our Side and we managed a victory. In the Final we drew Brixton Fencing Club, whilst we put up a valiant fight defeat was inevitable. Well Done

On Sunday June 27th 2010 We held the Shropshire Closed. This year was very well attended and we ran a Senior, Junior and Super Junior Events. For the Results lists click the links below

 

 

Sunday 13th June 2010 Wrexham Fecning club held their open competition and Peter James achieved his highest placing in an open. Aftwer one round of poules he was 13th, he won his first DE fight but testing his Epee prior to his 2nd DE it failed and had to be repaired, whilst this was going on he managed to lose his 2nd DE which at the end of the competotion gave him an overall 18th place closely followed by Timothy Pearce in !9th.
